Diodes, Inc. Introduces Industry's Smallest 1 Amp Rectifier Targeted at the Portable Electronics Market

Jan 30, 2008

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, 2008--Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete and analog semiconductor markets, today announced the introduction of the industry's smallest 1 Amp SBR rectifier in a 1.4mm x 1.1mm DFN package.

The new SBR1U40LP is designed to enable further miniaturization and improve efficiency resulting in extended battery life to meet the higher power requirements of today's multi-functional portable electronics such as digital audio players, mobile phones and digital cameras.

"The release of the smallest 1 Amp rectifier to the market furthers Diodes' efforts to extend its leadership position with new innovative products, which meet the requirements of today's multi-functional portable electronics environment," commented Mark King, Diodes' Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing. "The SBR1U40LP has been well received by our customers as a result of its ability to assist them in driving a smaller form factor and lower power consumption, which are the key elements required to increase the portability of devices within their target markets."

The SBR1U40LP provides high power dissipation in the smallest footprint possible, which saves additional space and increases the board density of consumer end products requiring high power and portability.

The SBR1U40LP is the smallest 1A power package introduced to the power rectifier market. It features a tiny footprint of 1.54mm2 total area with physical leadless dimensions of 1.1mm x 1.4mm, which is 50% smaller in total dimension area than standard competitive packages like the SOD-323. The SBR1U40LP also offers ultra-low forward voltage to reduce power dissipation with a reverse blocking voltage of 40V.

In addition, Diodes released two 0.4mm height 20V SBR rectifiers in a tiny miniature 1.0mm x 0.6mm DFN package. The new SBR05U20LPS and SBR07U20LPS achieve a continuous forward current rating of 0.5A and 0.7A respectively, with an ultra-low forward voltage drop (VF), and a high forward surge capability for high reliability. These two new products are well suited for low profile applications, such as mobile phones, where board size and efficiency are critical to the design.
