Diodes, Inc. Releases Second Generation Contact-less Switch for Cell Phone and Portable Consumer Electronics Market

Jun 26, 2007

-- Expands Diodes' Reach Into Portable Device Markets

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2007--Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq:DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete and analog semiconductor markets, today announced the launch of the AH1884, a new contact-less switch for small portable applications. The new device offers low power, high sensitivity and greater performance than comparable products from the market leading handset component suppliers.

The AH1884 is designed for use in cell phones, laptops and other portable applications. Its ultra-low voltage makes it an ideal fit for clam-shell mobile handsets. It provides users with longer battery life, while OEMs benefit through excellent price, performance and enhanced design flexibility. The AH1884 operates in the 1.65V to 3V range and its dual output eliminates the need for external components, which reduces board size and overall manufacturing costs.

"The AH1884 enables Diodes to become a technology leader in one of the hottest sectors of the mobile marketplace," says Mark King, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing of Diodes Incorporated. "We fully expect to leverage this product family, as well as others in the final stages of development, to rapidly grow market share and forge long-term partnerships with top-tier OEMs."

Complementing the AH1884, Diodes also announces the launch of the AH1801 and AH1802. These second-generation sensors are derived from the popular AH180. Like the AH1884, these Hall-effect sensor switches can respond effortlessly to the presence of a magnetic field of either pole, thus eliminating the need to orient polarity during manufacturing.

Both the AH1801 and AH1802 offer additional features specific to the mobile phone market. The AH1801 provides an inverted output for reverse magnetic contact. High magnetic sensitivity turns the output on in the AH1802 within a very tight tolerance band. Operating from 2.5V to 5.5V, these devices are comprised of two Hall-effect plates, small-signal amplifier, chopper stabilization, a latch, and a MOSFET output. They are well suited for battery-powered systems, mobile communication devices and other small consumer electronic devices.

In addition, the combination of technological innovation and packaging places these products ahead of the competition. The small form factor packaging used in the AH1884, AH1802, and AH1801 saves board space while delivering superior performance to comparable industry devices. Design and manufacturing flexibility enables Diodes to support and deliver a wide range of small form factor package options within the shortest timeframes.
