Diodes Incorporated Announces Expanded Product Offerings Using PowerDI123 and SOD-523 Compact Performance Packages

May 10, 2005
New Series of High Voltage Schottky Rectifiers Extends PowerDI(TM)123 Product Line; Release of New Zener Series Expands SOD-523 Product Line

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., May 10, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq:DIOD), a leading manufacturer and supplier of high quality discrete semiconductors, today announced the continued expansion of its compact power package PowerDI(TM)123 and its ultra-small SOD-523 package in its ongoing efforts to boost the performance of discrete devices, while reducing size and power consumption.

Following the groundbreaking introduction of the compact power package PowerDI(TM)123, this product line has been expanded to include a series of high voltage Schottky devices, boasting a high forward current rating of 1 Ampere and consisting of three voltages, 60V, 100V & 150V.

The key benefits of these new high voltage devices include a low forward voltage drop, high junction temperature rating, and low leakage current. The higher efficiency achievable with PowerDI(TM)123 results in less power loss and longer battery life for portable electronics. As a result, the devices are a superior alternative to the traditional ultra-fast rectifiers typically used in battery chargers, SMPS and consumer electronics applications. Qualified to the AEC-Q101 Standard for High Reliability, they are built with green molding compound and are RoHS compliant, making them also marketable in environmentally conscious overseas markets. Like other products in the PowerDI(TM)123 compact power package, the high voltage series features a footprint of only 6.75mm(2) and a low-profile maximum height of 1mm, thus occupying up to 50% less board space than competitive packages and making them ideal for high integration rectifier applications.

With the release of the new BZT52C5V6T-BZT52C24T zener series, the Company is extending its SOD-523 product line that currently includes Schottky and Switching diodes. The new zener series offers a range of widely-used zener voltages, from 5.6V up to 24V. The height of the ultra-small low profile SOD-523 package is 50% that of the legacy SOD-123 device and occupies less than 25% board space, making the SOD-523 package easier to integrate into space-restricted consumer appliances. All devices are constructed with the environmentally friendly 100% matte tin lead-free plating with green molding compound, qualifying the series as RoHS compliant. The series will be further expanded to include zener voltages below 5.6V and above 24V at a later stage.

"These new additions to our PowerDI(TM)123 and SOD-523 package product lines are yet another fine example of Diodes' flexibility to swiftly extend our performance packages to meet market needs. The high voltage PowerDI(TM)123 product line expansion is our prompt answer to demands for an alternative to ultra-fast rectifiers to extend product longevity. And our new SOD-523 zener series demonstrates Diodes' continued focus on miniaturization in markets where consumer applications constantly shrink in size and weight, and call for increasingly smaller devices that surpass the performance of legacy devices," said Mark King, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Diodes, Inc.
