DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 30, 2009--
Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq:DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and
supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within
the broad discrete and analog semiconductor markets, has introduced a
family of three new LED drivers that provide a cost-effective and small
form factor solution for small LCD screens used across a wide range of
portable consumer electronics, such as portable media players, personal
navigation devices and digital photo frames.
The AP572x DC-DC boost LED driver is specifically designed for LCD
screens that are less than five inches and require uniform backlighting
by LEDs. Driving the LEDs in series ensures constant screen brightness.
A 1.2MHz switching frequency enables the AP572x to utilize smaller value
inductors, and the very compact 2mmx2mm device footprint optimizes the
LED backlighting solution size for small LCD screens that are used in a
host of different systems.
The AP572x provides built-in protection features that improve
reliability, including over-voltage protection that detects open circuit
loads; under-voltage lock-out for safer operation; and a soft start
feature that lowers the in-rush current, reducing stress on the LED
driver.
The AP572x LED driver family is offered in SOT23-6 and TDFN2020C-6
packages. The SOT23-6 packaged devices are direct replacements for
existing industry standard parts, and the 0.1V, 0.25V and 0.31V feedback
voltage options provide design engineers further versatility. The
TDFN2020C-6 packaged devices allow significant PCB area savings. Device
operating ambient temperature range is from -40 to 85oC.
AP572x family devices are available through standard distribution
channels.
