Diodes, Inc. Expands Product Offerings Using Breakthrough PowerDI(TM) 123 Compact Performance Package

Jul 14, 2005
- Release of New Transient Voltage Suppressor and Standard Recovery Rectifier
Lines and a 200V Schottky in the PowerDI(TM) 123 Package

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading manufacturer and supplier of high quality discrete semiconductors, today announced the continued expansion of PowerDI(TM) 123 product line to further boost the performance of discrete devices, while reducing size and power consumption.

The new products in the groundbreaking PowerDI(TM) 123 package will benefit a wide range of portable electronic devices, consumer electronics and automotive applications, as well as switch-mode power supply designs.

These products include a 225-Watt transient voltage suppressor (TVS) line DFLT5V0A-DFLT51A with the popular voltages ranging from 5V to 51V; a 1 Ampere line of standard recovery rectifiers DFLR1200-DFLR1400 with maximum reverse voltage ratings of 200V and 400V, respectively; and a 1 Ampere high voltage Schottky, DFLS1200, that extends the Schottky series in this package to 200V.

"We are very pleased to announce yet another launch of next-generation devices which are at the forefront of miniaturization technology," said Mark King, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, for Diodes, Inc. "The introduction of a TVS line with high-power performance features as well as the extension of our rectifier and Schottky lines once again reinforces our position as an innovation leader focused on our customers' demands for products that continue to shrink in size while extending performance characteristics."

Designed to provide a compact alternative to the transient protection function traditionally reserved for the SMA package, these TVS devices require 59% less printed circuit board (PCB) area. Benefiting from PowerDI(TM)123's thermally optimized package design, the new TVS line extends transient protection beyond the industry's 200-Watt standard. In addition, the devices employ Diodes' robust TVS wafer process to provide a superior level of protection from voltage spikes due to ESD and other destructive voltage surges.

Our 200V to 400V rectifiers in PowerDI(TM) 123 packages are targeted for a growing number of consumer electronics and automotive applications that increasingly rely on the dependable performance of the "industry workhorse", the 400V standard recovery rectifier in SMA. The new rectifier in the PowerDI(TM) 123 package is a compact replacement for the SMA-type package that does not sacrifice performance. The line has received an enthusiastic response from a variety of customers who will benefit from this product's advantages.

The 200V high voltage Schottky is perfect for increasing efficiency in Switch-mode power supply applications, and provides an alternative to super-fast rectifiers, offering a significantly lower forward voltage drop and the desirable soft recovery characteristics of Schottky technology.

These products have all been qualified to the industry's most rigorous AEC-Q101 Standards for High Reliability and are constructed to comply with all applicable RoHS directives for environmental responsibility.
