Diodes Incorporated Introduces Synchronous PWM Controller to Analog Product Family

Mar 31, 2006
   * Diodes Also Introduces Series of Industry Standard Analog IC Products
                      Targeting High-Volume Applications

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading manufacturer and supplier of high quality discrete and analog semiconductors, today announced a new Synchronous PWM Controller in a series of planned analog integrated circuit (IC) part introductions into Diodes' analog power management product line.

"I am very excited to report that we have made tremendous progress in implementing our new standard analog strategy," stated Dr. Keh-Shew Lu, President and CEO of Diodes, Inc. "The release of this analog controller represents the initial 'fruits' of the Anachip acquisition that closed on January 10th of this year.

"We are also pleased to announce the release of six industry standard analog products and two surface-mount package types that are now manufactured at Diodes' China facility. These new packages were developed to enable us to establish a platform to participate competitively in the high-volume analog IC market, as well as broaden our discrete product offering in the medium-power range."

This Synchronous Buck Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Controller (AP2014A) has been designed for cost effective on-board DC-to-DC converter applications requiring high levels of efficiency. The AP2014A offers power conversion efficiency of up to 92% with output current to 20 Amperes and output voltage as low as 1.5V. Also featuring 400Khz internal oscillator, external programmable soft start, and built-in under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection, this full function PWM controller IC also operates with single 5V or 12V supply voltages. With an operating temperature range of 0 degrees C to 125 degrees C, the AP2014A controller is ideal for power management designs supporting both commercial and industrial markets.

"This new controller is ideal for advanced set-top box, hard disk drive, and graphic card applications, which demand efficient power management architecture providing high output current and low core voltages," explained Mark King, Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Diodes, Inc.

The industry standard analog IC products and new SOT-223 and SOP8-L package introductions include:

    * AP431, Shunt Regulator in SOT-23 and SC-59

    * AP432, Shunt Regulator in SOT-23

    * AP358, Dual Op Amp in SOP8-L

    * AP393, Dual Comparator in SOP8-L

    * AP1117, LDO (Low Dropout Linear Regulator) in SOT-223

    * AP1084, LDO (Low Dropout Linear Regulator) in SOT-223
